Meet Apurva Khemani, a data scientist from India and a former student of Gradability’s Professional Year Program (offered under the Performance Education brand). Apurva is now working as a data scientist at Technology One and generously giving back through her #AskApurva initiative to help other migrants facing similar challenges.
In this episode, Apurva highlights the importance of being proactive and not waiting until graduation to start searching for opportunities. She emphasizes the value of networking and leveraging platforms like LinkedIn and industry meetups to showcase oneself to potential employers.
Besides starting out in her career, migrating to Australia also presented her with challenges of adapting to a new country and culture. Apurva shares how she adjusted to the Australian lifestyle while also preserving her cultural identity and spirituality, attending temples and engaging in Indian spiritual practices.
Wanting to give back to the community, Apurva has started her “Ask Apurva” initiative which aims to support international students and newcomers seeking job opportunities in Australia through mentorship and guidance.
This episode of The Employability Podcast provides valuable insights into the challenges and successes of migrants in Australia and offers practical tips for professional development and career growth in a new country.
